A letter from Counseling and Wellness Services Division (CWSD) of NCKU
Dear NCKU students,
As the midpoint of the semester approaches, unexpected issues arise, we know that it has been a challenging time for many of you. While these experiences can lead to learning and growth, they can also leave us feeling down, lost and stressed. So don't forget to take care of yourselves and friends around you to keep your spirits during these challenging times.
See below for some of the stress-relief strategies:
- Try to keep your daily routine
Sufficient sleep, healthy diet and regular exercise can relieve anxiety and depression. Try to have at least two meals a day and dedicate 20 minutes concentrating on your meal to give yourself a break
- Talk to someone you trust
Sharing your feelings and emotions with someone you trust (family, friends, partner, mentor, etc.) can help you release stress and express yourself.
- Engage in interests
Activities such as reading, painting, hiking, listening to music or anything you enjoy can help change your focus. They are more effective for stress relief than passive scrolling, video watching.
- Find your inner peace
If you have a belief in religion, you can say a prayer, go to church or visit a temple. Alternatively, carrying comforting items such as amulets or blessing phrases can keep your spirits high during these challenging times.
- Try something new
If you wish to learn new coping strategies or do some self-exploration, we invite you to join our various activities (click to see more) or reserve the Relaxation session (massage chairs & essential oils)
More information can be found in the attached poster. Most of the stress responses are temporary without significantly affecting daily life. If you feel overwhelmed for more than two weeks, please contact CWSD for professional guidance and support.
